Sooo.....

THIS is what we're doing:  http://www.chop.edu/service/center-for-management-of-adhd/home.html  We also began a social skills group yesterday http://www.in-syncandsocial.com/ that was led by occupational therapists.  She is the only girl.  The other children in the group all seemed to be pretty well adjusted which made me wonder why their parents had them there.  She is also doing a social skills group that is on Saturdays, which unfortunately is conflicting with soccer games, but soccer ends in May and we are back to the Saturday group.

I   AM   STRESSED!  About all of it!  About my husband's possible promotion.  He got through the first hurdle, but it's pretty high stress getting the promotion.  He has to jump through a lot of political work hoops, which he hates doing, finds exhausting, and stressful.  Now that he got though step 1, we are waiting to see if he's going to get to step 2. If he gets to step 2, he has to select 6 people to write him letters of recommendation.  These are people who were involved in the things he listed on his application throughout his career.  He's worked there 15 years.  He also has to document his career in a timeline under VERY specific directions ie:  font size, length of words used, etc.  If he gets to step 3, he'll be interviewed, and step 4 is the very prestigious promotion.

SO, while step 1 has been completed we won't know the outcome and if he's going onto step 2 until June.  The SWW's appointment with the developmental pediatrician and Chop is on the last day in April.

Plus, if he does progress at work and has to go the the various steps to get promoted it will be MOMMY-SWW TIME.  I can feel the exhaustion already.  I've lost a lot of my muscle tone so I'm not feeling good about how my body looks.  I'm NOT at all overweight, just not toned and bulging where I didn't used to bulge.  Remember this IS getting to be the time year where more of our body is exposed, and that is a depressing thought.

I also had a strong-willed child and I didn't get help soon enough. Please continue to search for the ways to parent her and take care of yourself that work for your family. You are doing the right thing, however much work and however uncomfortable the process is now. I hope your husband is successful in his promotion attempt. Please try to support him without giving up yourself. If he fails, it will be the fault of the company and its stupid, antiquated procedures, not either his fault or yours. Best of luck!
