So, the little one has a babysitter we use. It's my friend who was the next door neighbors nanny's daughter. Before diagnosis for autism, adhd, add, or any other spectrum disorder was happening she was one who worked in schools with kids on the spectrum designing programs for them. That was 10 years ago, now the people who do that are behavior therapists with masters degrees and such. She is going back to school but she babysits the strong willed wonder for us and other special needs people.
Anyway, yesterday she took the little one to her social skills class which is 5:30-6:30 at night. Airplane man (my husband) and I realized they would be gone for a little bit and did we want to have an unplanned date night? I have a cold and am pretty tired and the SWW had pulled some annoying things yesterday after kindergarten so I asked him to make me a chocolate martini and suggested we eat the chili that I had been planning on for dinner. WOW, either it was mega potent or I'm a total light weight as far as drinking goes. That one drink did me in. I barely managed to take my contacts out (actually found one dried out on the toilet this morning) and my MS med. I was in pajamas and out by 7. I woke up at 10, all we in bed sleeping, I went downstairs and had a BIG glass of water and took a tylenol.
Managed to get up this morning at 6am and apparently The Strong Willed Wonder had been up at 4am calling for my husband. So unsure how well she will handle today at school since she's been up since 4. Airplane Man is not pleased since he now has been up since 4am and has a big report due at work today.
So, moral of the story? Unplanned date nights should be taken with caution.
Our school district did this programming day and my daughter was given a utube link to learn how to program Flappy Bird and she loves it. She was showing her babysitter yesterday. I have now created a login name for her, a password, and she knows how to use the mouse. They set it up so I could choose by age so it would be appropriate and she liked it a lot. She was excited to see that she could learn how to do other games from that site. They had a Frozen game. I quickly told her that both grandad and uncle bryan (my brother) do computer programming for their careers. Did not mention how lucrative they are ;-).
She has also started an art class this week. I'm hoping that will help her do peer talking. So when a topic is being discussed she doesn't just go off on another not related one. And if she likes it a lot, they offer summer camp. Pricey, but I bet my parents would help me fund it. I currently have the YMCA reserved, but I think it would be nice if she was doing other things besides that. I believe her gymnastics place offers a summer camp too.
If she's at summer camp all summer do I want to think about a job somewhere? I'll be kind of bored, but I can't do the heat well so I'm not the prime mom for summer in Philly.
