Yes, snow! I'm not anti-snow or anything it's just that we live in the suburbs of Phi.adelphia not Alaska in Iceland or Russia. Freezing cold and icy snow! It's too cold to even play outside in the snow.
So, I've taken some books out of the library. Love that I can take out e-books from the library. It's so much less expensive than Amazon!
Met w/the SWW's behavioral therapist yesterday. I WISH WISH WISH I could some how morph myself into her at times. She gave me some tips and I actually took written notes. Although she has her own children and one of them is a SWW and she has reported similar behaviors. She's just better at it than I am.
In other odd news the SWW wanted to sleep in her own bed last night. Yes, my husband joined her until she fell asleep and then came back to our bed, but since she has actually regressed at pre-school as far as behavior and playing with other children goes we're not sure what to do. I'm feeling very bummed out about it. Is it that we were talking about adding a sibling that caused the regression? Does she think in her own 4 year old way that she'll be replaced? That she's not good enough? She is VERY smart and knows what is expected from her. She's just fighting us on it. You know we're mean and heartless people who want her to have fun at gymnastics, soccer, or other sports since she is so energetic and physically capable.
We live in the is great area where so much is available to her that she could really benefit from. What do you say to your 4 year old when she says I don't want to do soccer again in the fall because she has to follow rules. That was what she told me when she did not want to continue gymnastics last year, regarding the local art center 1 day a week (where she got to paint and loved it), and most recently basketball. Even swimming which she loves. She said that she only likes outdoor swimming, not indoor. Well kid, as Mick Jagger said You Can't Always Have What You Want. Your mommy doesn't want to do swimming during the summer at the outdoor pool because her nanny friend has a new job and is no longer local. Your mommy wants to do the YMCA where the temperatures are regulated, it's funded by grandparents, and since Mommy is in charge that's what will happen. Actually I would love to do our local swim club, but it's too pricey. It requires a bond, and you have to have other members sign a paper. However, most of the people in the MOMS club I belong to go there so I would know people and the SWW would know some kids from pre-school.
I guess I'll go back to my chai-latte and try to relax. I know if I go downstairs and turn on the TV the SWW will wake up. Somehow if I'm upstairs on my laptop that doesn't wake her.
BTW last night I made this for dinner. It was easy and good. Thumbs up from my husband and I. Of course the pre-schooler wouldn't eat it even though she likes shrimp.
