The pre-schooler and I are STILL sharing a bed and my husband is in her bed. My MIL will be picked up today for the holiday and then she will be sleeping in the pre-schoolers bed. We've wracked our brains trying to figure out where to put a guest bedroom in our big yet space in all the wrong spots split level and w/the dog still chugging along we can't think of a place to add a guest bedroom.
Maybe that didn't make much sense. Josie, the dog, is a yellow lab who is very food oriented in that she has figured out how to open our refridgerator, scratches at the cabinet that holds the trash can because she smell food, and grabs food off the counters. She is also getting to be much older. We've had her since 1999 and we got her when she was 6 months old. To give you a good idea she's like Marley from that book "marley and Me". Anyway, I did approx 7 years of dog training with her beginning with treat training and ending w/shock collar training in an effort to become an "alpha", but it never happened. My husband is the only Alpha in her eyes and I think that's because he's the only one who is strong enough to be able to lift her 80lb self if she decides to be cranky. She still is a crappy leash walker (pulls constantly), and food is her 1st and only love with us coming in 2nd only because we are the kibble suppliers. Where am I going? Since she is so old, she now has incontinence problems, arthritis, and has trouble going up and down the stairs. Did you catch the part where I said we live in a split level? 3 stories and lots of steps. We have a 4 bedroom house. 1: Master, 2: Pre-schoolers, 3: Husband's laptop & the dogs crate, 4: 3rd floor of house my laptop, eliptical, husbands cycle which is on a stand. Since Josie has arthritis and issues doing steps not to mention the peeing issues we can't really move her crate to the 3rd floor and there isn't anywhere that we can think of on the main level that would be a food free area w/a door except a bathroom. So, as of now we have no guest room.
Thursday, after Christmas we are moving the pre-schooler back to her bed. Her behavior therapist is coming over to assist. The company my husband works for is closed until Jan 2 so we chose this time so it wouldn't mess w/sleep & work.
